Oh, politics

Listen, in politics, I feel like there's never going to be a consensus on anything... ever. Period. I think that's both a good and a bad thing. So I'd like to say that clearly, things I post on my blog of the political persuasion are not going to sit well with everyone, I'm sure. But nonetheless, it is how I feel or what I dis/agree with.

So I understand these differences, and respect them, and know that not everyone is going to agree on the same policies of how to best run our country. And by no means do I think I'm a good source to know how to do so... however, there are just some things that I read or hear about in the news and can't help but think "why do you people not see that this is just a bad, bad idea?!"

You might know who Ann Coulter is, you might not. Some love her, some really hate her. Either way you feel about her, I think she is so smart and witty and her sarcastic tone makes you feel a little bit of a zing when you read what she writes. She has some great points, and you think so especially if you're a conservative. But even some conservatives thinks she's a little too off. Me on the other hand, I like her.

I subscribe to townhall.com articles and she's a pretty regular columnist. Below are two quotes I've pulled from two different articles she has written. I think the first is funny and very true, the second says a lot about how our country would be better with less government involvement, and both of them show a little of that sarcastic tone she tends to take. I enjoyed it.

"... the problem is that voting for Obama a year ago was a fashion statement, much like it was once a fad to buy Beanie Babies, pet rocks and Cabbage Patch Kids. But instead of ending up with a ridiculous dust-collector at the bottom of your closet, the Obama fad leaves you with higher taxes, a reduced retirement fund, no job and a one-year wait for an MRI." - Ann Coulter

"But the only reason government health insurance will be more "affordable" than private health insurance is that taxpayers will be footing the bill. That's something that can't be opted out of under the "opt out" plan. Which brings us right back to the question of whether the government or the free market provides better services at better prices. There are roughly 1 million examples of the free market doing a better job and the government doing a worse job." - Ann Coulter

Bottom line: a government that governs least, governs best.

Also, a new poll says that 44% of voters would now rather have Bush back in office... what? I don't lie... click here to read it. I know that's a whole 'nother can of worms, but thought it was interesting...

  1. How insightful! But, who are these poll voters I wonder? I will have to check that out!

  2. "... voters are increasingly placing the blame on Obama for the country's difficulties instead of giving him space because of the tough situation he inherited."

I feel like no matter who was in office right now, Republican or Democrat, young or old, black or white, they'd be getting shit for what they're doing. All I know is that I certainly wouldn't want to be president right now. I think it can be agreed upon by everyone that we have to give whoever attempts the trying feat some mad props.
